Posted on Thu, 6 Jan 2022
Question: My wife and I are receiving treatment for latent TB (Isoniazid and Rifapentine). After 9 weeks she has received her bloodwork back, and her monocyte count is low (90). She works around infectious diseases; is the reason to be alarmed?

Brief Answer:
Repeat blood counts after 2 weeks

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I have worked through your attached query in detail.

Nothing to worry about this count. It's common during tuberculosis treatment.

Working around infected zones can worsen this.

It's advisable to keep away from such zones.

Repeat blood counts after 2 weeks.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you
