Is the attached report scoliosis / stenosis likely to progress ? No previous xray from childhood im 36 yr old and have no pain ir symptoms .. Thanks
Brief Answer:
Progression can be determined by routine follow ups and serial imaging
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back to HCM and thanks for asking the follow-up.
First of all sorry for the delay in reply due to my work schedule.
Well I've gone your question as well as the images shared by you.
At first lets get the facts straight that Stenosis and scoliosis are two different entities as stenosis is a much severe form and denotes near complete/complete narrowing.
Secondly in this case ,the image shared by you is suggesting scoliosis .
Well since you haven't have any previous X-rays from you childhood so its very difficult to say whether this Scoliosis has progressed at all .
Yes once again scoliosis do progress with time and age but there are several other factors related to it i.e. metabolic states, vitamins and mineral deficiency , associated co-morbidities , occupation , geographical region, heredity and several others.
No need to worry at this point since you're asymptomatic but once its detected , it's better to continue follow-up from now on to keep an eye on any progression.
So I'd advice you to check into your local Neurologist for further evaluation as well MRI-Spine to keep a baseline report for any underlying pathology plus a complete metabolic profile as well as routine follow-ups (preferably 3-6 monthly)
Let me know if there's any thing else I can help you with
Thanks
Regards

Do i have a near complete narrowing ? Is that what my xray show ? Why does it say on my reportmild then ??
Brief Answer:
YOU DON'T HAVE NEAR COMPLETE NARROWING
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome back to HCM
No you don't have a near complete narrowing .
Your X-Ray showed MILD Disc space narrowing at L2-L3 level, which means that there's some point of disc space narrowing present which at this point is not at all severe.
I'd advice you to go back to the previous reply where I've already mentioned what all needs to be done and please don't panic. Just follow them and move on with your life. You'll be fine.
Best Of Luck
