Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about what this person experienced. It would be best her to be evaluated before any medications are being administered. Narcan is used in persons who have taken too much opioids like morphine. These are persons who would present with pinpoint pupils, difficult breathing, unconscious state, etc. A proper examination can make this diagnosis and, maybe, justify the use of narcan. I will not recommend that you give this drug without enough evidence to suggest that she has opiates intoxication.
Sudden loss of muscle function and a neurological deficit(inability to talk) suggests that something wrong could be going on in the brain. The most common is a problem with the brain blood system which could be stroke or some other thing. A proper examination would make the exact diagnosis and put in place an emergency management plan that would help stop and or reverse the ongoing disease process. I think rushing her to the emergency room would be the best thing to do at this time.
In all, I will not recommend Narcan. Take her to the ER immediately for best intervention and management.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

This person was my wife. I wasn't with her when this happen. I was 2 hours away and 911 was called by persons that witness fall stayed with her till medics arrived. They put a neck collar on her and put her on stretcher. In their notes they administered .04 mg of narcan with minimual improvement. My wife has never used drugs. She was air lifted to hospital. When arived all vital signs were normal she just couldn't verbally communicate. She started to progressively get worst and passed away two days later of hemorrhage in brain on left side. My wife was real healthy other than controlled blood pressure with medication and cholestrial medicine benicar. Could the narcan have contributed to her death. We have been married 44 years.
Thanks for your prompt response XXXXXXX
Narcan could not have contributed to her death!
Detailed Answer:
I am so sorry to hear about this painful loss. I know how difficult it must have been very difficult and painful to get the news that your wife is no more.
Narcan has minimal side effects. In the event of an unconscious patient with no clear history as to what happened, Narcan can be used and monitored to see if there would be any change. Should there be any, then opioid overdose would be suspected but if there is no change, other causes of her unconscious state should be sought.
Brain hemorrhage results in fatality in a majority of those who sustain it. It is rather unfortunate that she suffered from this. The risk factor that stands out for this hemorrhage is the hypertension. Though well controlled, it remains a real risk factor.
I feel your loss, I share your pain. I pray that you find reasons to stay optimistic and not get drained by this tragic and sudden loss. Narcan did not contribute to her death but brain hemorrhage in itself has a very poor prognosis and most patients do not survive from this.
I hope it addresses your query fully. I am happy to address any more concerns that you may have.
