Is Narcissism A Borderline Personality Disorder?
- Name calling: "You silly little man" - to my father. - Be-belittling, bullying.
- Talking in a child-like voice, patronizing. etc when angry. - what is this?
- Strange eye contact, glaring.
- Threats such as "I will kill my enemies if I get ill".
- Hates my dad to speak with me alone.
- Father can't spend time with me.
- Mother is ALWAYS is in the right.
- Can't handle criticism.
- Very manipulative
- Remembers past events like yesterday
- Cannot let things go
- When I need support it comes back to her every time.
- Both of my parents turn everything into some-kind of game, manipulation show, (believe us with word after word after word of convincing, where they have to be right - looking over every detail.
- I am now allowed to have my own opinion on things they disagree with.
- She said she would kill herself without my dad.
What is worse is when my mother gets like this I am shoved aside and not cared for (when growing up or otherwise). My dad tells me to leave and hasn't spoken to me about this.
Does this all sound like BPD or something else?
I should also add that my mother has been to psychiatrists and clearly hasn't told them any of the above other than she is obsessing about 'eating'. She hasn't mentioned all of the other traits above. She was diagnosed with OCD, but this clearly doesn't account for the other mentions above.
Please help. It is like living in hell since witnessing such clear manipulation isn't nice. What is wrong my father too not to discuss this ever with me?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.
This does not sound like BPD. This sounds like narcissistic traits.
In order to treat your anxiety, I strongly recommend psychotherapy, to understand how your parents' actions affect you and increase your anxiety.

Thanks for reply. I did also discuss with other on here and they believed narcissism could be ruled out but PPD or BPD would be about right especially since she isn't self promoting, says she isn't brilliant looking and doesn't overstate any achievements. She also said to me she'd rather die than lose my dad, even though she often says she'd rather be alone. Isn't this BPD? It sounds like it from what I have read.

Detailed Answer:
It is not possible to diagnose a personality disorder without interviewing the patient directly. All anyone can say without interviewing her is that there are concerns for narcissistic and borderline traits.
