Is Natural Conception Possible At The Age Of 42 While Taking Triamcinolone Injections?
Question: Hi
I had a missed miscarriage in April last year. I went for my first scan to find the baby had died at 5.5 weeks gestation. I then went to miscarry naturally at week 13.
Over the last 6 months my periods vary between 29 and 35 day cycles. I do ovulation kits which shows ovulation any time from day 14 to day 24. As long as the kits are showing ovulation though the days vary can I safely say that I ovulate?
I started Triamcinolone 80mg injections 3 weeks ago for severe asthma. I am worrying myself sick that they will interfere with my fertility.
I am 42 years of age and have no children and am still trying to conceive. The Triamcinolone injections are going to be every 4 weeks and as soon as I conceive they will stop. Do you see I can conceive naturally even on the Triamcinolone. I am asking this because I am on cycle day 24 and no positive OPK but I haven't done one every day so I could of missed it. I think I am panicking, what are your thoughts please?

Brief Answer:
Triamcinolone injection will not interfere with fertility
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The Triamcinolone injection will not interfere with ovulation and fertility. You will have no issues conceiving while on Triamcinolone.
Regarding the cycle days, it is completely normal to have the cycle duration vary by +/- 7 days. Date of ovulation can also vary accordingly. Since OPK test is showing that you are ovulating every cycle, there is nothing to be worried about and you will have no issues conceiving.
Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.

thank you so much this really is music to my ears. How can I minimise the risk of miscarriage next time it really did take me months to get over it
Brief Answer:
Progesterone supplementation can help
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
There is nothing specific that can be done to prevent miscarriage. However, given your age and previous history of miscarriage, progesterone supplementation during the first trimester may help. There is no 100% guarantee that progesterone will prevent miscarriage. But there is no harm in supplementing progesterone too and definitely worth giving a try.
I understand that going through a miscarriage is very difficult. But, Please be reassured that previous one miscarriage does not put you at increased risk for miscarriage in subsequent pregnancies.
Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.

even at my age does it not necessarily mean miscarriage? where can I get progesterone from please?
Brief Answer:
Spontaneous loss of pregnancy is miscarriage
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Spontaneous loss of pregnancy is always miscarriage irrespective of maternal age.
Only thing is that the risk of miscarriage slightly increases with advancing age. You can receive progesterone prescription from your OBGYN once pregnancy is confirmed.

If I got pregnant naturally before will I get pregnant naturally again
Brief Answer:
Yes, you can conceive naturally
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As long as your ovarian reserve is not exhausted (which occurs at menopause), there is definite possibility of you conceiving naturally. As age advances the probability of conceiving diminishes. But still there are many women who conceive naturally in their 40s.
