Is Negative BioSure HIV Self Test After 14 Months Of Sexual Encounter Conclusive?
Question: Hello.
Would you say two negative Home Self Biosure HIV tests out to 13 months and 14 months past exposure are reliable. Biosure are the only home self kits approved for use in the UK.
My exposure was quite high. Are tests 13 and 14 months out reliable, despite symptoms I am having after these tests.
I am having what seems to be strep throat or tonsillitis. Do I need further testing?

Brief Answer:
NO need for further testing!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
These two home negative tests at 13 and 14months after exposure are conclusive enough that you are HIV negative. There is no need for further testing and for sure your symptoms cannot be explained by HIV. I will recommend you get examined and treated accordingly for whatever the cause maybe but sure it cannot be HIV.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you for getting back to me so soon.
I have just been having a sore throat recently and I have white patches at the back of my throat, trouble swallowing and loss of appetite. Are these related? I just want to rule it out completely. It has been taking over my life for a while. I have been having a choking sensation. Is this to do with anxiety?
Thank you once again.

Brief Answer:
That is not how HIV presents 14montsh afeter exposure!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Your worried mindset is not helping at all. I will ask you to relax and stop associating this to HIV. It might be a simple viral/bacterial respiratory tract infection that requires nothing more than pain medications and maybe some antibiotics. Relax and that alone will be very helpful to you.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Let me know if there is more you desire we talk on.

Hello again.
I have tonsillitis I think. I am just worried that it is related to HIV. Someone I work with has it and I think I have given it to someone else. I am worried that I am one of these people who has Hiv but never tests positive. Do I need to worry as I have never had it before? Could I be an unlucky person who has delayed seroconversion or repeatedly false negative tests. They were antibody only tests.

There is no need for further worries about HIV!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
14months is a long time for seroconversion to MUST have occurred. To me, there is no more reason to get worried about HIV. Forget HOIV related to this exposure that you had.

Hello again
One question.
If someone has a high or low exposure, does this effect the reliability of the tests past 12 months. If someone has a high risk exposure, do they need various tests, or is one or two enough after 6 months.
Is the window for testing the same for everyone despite the risk

Brief Answer:
There is no difference is testing by level of exposure!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Whether it is high or low exposure, testing procedure is the same. There is no need to get concerned and worried about this. You for sure have no HIV following all the above exchanges.
Keep me posted and updated.

Hello again.
That's a relief to know.
I think that is the end of my queries. I want to say thank you for all your help. Can I trust my tests like you said before?

Brief Answer:
Yes, trust your tests!

Hi,
All is fine and I will say stay calm and not be worried unless there is real need. As of now, there is no reason for that.
I wish you well.

Hello again.
Thank you for your recent email. I am okay thank you. Since I spoke to you last I have tested twice more with the BioSURE tests. Both negative again.
But I can't seem to get over this crippling fear of HIV.
I have had various symptoms. I am currently having skin problems. I have noticed I have thinned out recently, I have a on and off choking sensation, nervous stomach, twitches, keep having little minor accidents, period problems. I visited my GP on Tuesday and he was dismissive of the whole situation. Is there anything you can suggest?
Thanks again for taking the time to make sure I am okay.

Brief Answer:
You have got to forgot and move on!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for following up with me.
As long as you deny the truth that you are HIV negative, then you will continu to go through mental torture and even exhibit signs of HIV infection that are not really related to this infection. You have to be able to admit that not all exposure irrespective of how risky it was must lead to an infection.
If you still find it difficult to admit that you are actually hIV Negative, I recommend you meet and talk this out with a health counselor or psychiatrist.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Hello.
Thank you for your response. I can't seem to find a GP that would refer me to one. Here is the UK they are all rubbish.
I know I need to get over my fear and since my last test o n Saturday I am getting a bit better. Do you think any of those things could be anxiety related? I keep getting a rash on my arm, itchy skin, little bits of skin that you can pick off, sore throat in a morning sometimes, I have been having on and off diarrhea and constipation.
Thank you very much for your reply.

Brief Answer:
They are purely anxiety related!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this follow up.
Like I mentioned before, anxiety is playing a major role in this. I have advised that you stay calm and free yourself form all the disturbing thoughts that you keep having. No physician will review your file and still think HIV is a possibility even to a 1% chance.
I wish you well.
