Is Negative HIV Antibody Test Report 6 Years Post Exposure Conclusive?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Oct 2016
Question: I recently took an HIV antibody test which was negative. I had unprotected intercourse once six years ago, and had not experienced any symptoms until recently. I have been feeling tired and occasionally feverish. I also noticed white spots on my tongue which I am not sure if are from the antibiotics I have been taking for a urinary tract infection. Would an HIV antibody test still be able to detect antibodies if I had contracted HIV six years ago? What other test should I take if not?

Brief Answer:
Yes, that will be able!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Any HIV contracted 6years ago can be easily detected by just any HIV test. If your test returned negative, then there is nothing to bother about. Continue drugs and let's know how you are doing once the medications are over.

I wish you well.
