Is Overdose Of Amoxicillin Trihydrate Dangerous?
Question: I accidentally gave double dosage of amoxicillin trihydrate to my 3 years old daughter? Is it dangerous? What should I do?
Brief Answer:
should not harm her
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
It is understandable to be worried but it is unlikely to harm her significantly because it would either be slightly under or over (depends on if she has received other doses today) the total daily dose she is allowed based on her weight.
Because it is normally given 2 to 3 times a day depending on the strength given.
If she is due another dose today, you would skip the next dose and then continue as normal .
She may experience some gastrointestinal upset such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea but this would resolve in 24 to 36 hours if it occurs.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
