Is Pelvic MRI Advisable While Planning To Conceive?
Question: I'm due to pelvis MRI two days before my ovulation, we are eager to ttc after 2 miscarriages, but I'm worried MRI could affect my ovulation/ healthy eggs and lead to another miscarriage. Would it be safe to ttc right after MRI? ( I'm not sure if they would need to use contrast or not, is that safe?)
Brief Answer:
MRI is not harmful during pregnancy
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
MRI is a kind of test that does not use radiation, and is safe during pregnancy. Even unborn babies can have MRI scans.
So you do not need to worry. You have not conceived yet and the scan will not affect your eggs. So you can safely try to conceive during this time.
Contrast is rarely necessary for MRI's unless they are imaging your head.
I wish you luck in conceiving and best wishes for your pregnancy
Sincerely, Dr. Brown
