Is Persistent Cough When Diagnosed With Pneumonia A Sign Of Lung Cancer?

default
Posted on Fri, 9 Jun 2023
Question: Hi Doctor, I am having cough from past 2 weeks and I went to local doctor and got my chest xray done he told me that I have pnemonia, so for second opinion I have went to see other doc and he told I don't have any pnemonia and gave some medications. I also see online that these may be symptoms of Lung cancer as the cough still persist and previously I used to smoke which I gave a year back. Request you to kindly give me your opinion on this. I am attaching my Chest Xray and Blood report for your reference.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
X-ray report is not attached, please attach the same.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Please attach your chest X-ray. I would also like to know if you have any fever now, is there any sputum production and if yes, color of the sputum and if there is any blood in the sputum? Do you have any allergies like being uncomfortable in dust and smoke? Is there any breathing difficulty?

Do answer the above query and attach the report so that I can answer your query.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
The chest X-ray looks normal to me.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I could see the X-ray from the link provided by you. From what I can visualize in the film, it looks normal to me. What has the radiologist given in the report? I am asking because it is different seeing the actual film and seeing the scanned one.

You should not worry about lung cancer as there is nothing to suggest that your cough could be due to lung cancer. The cough is due to the infection that you had and shall pass soon.

You may take some expectorant cough syrup like Grilinctus, Coscopin or Benadryl and take some nebulization with Levolin and Dudecort respules (just for the time being).

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care.
