Is Pink Colour Stool In A Child A Cause For Concern?

Considerations
Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.
A couple of thoughts about what you have described. It is possible that stool color can change based on coloring of foods or drinks which are consumed by a young child.
certain fruit juices or fruit punches can cause discoloration of stool.
Also if a child is constipated it can sometimes cause a bit of bleeding which can look pink in the stool as well.
I would recommend continued observation for the time being. If the symptoms do not improve or if you noticed increasing discoloration of the stool or actual blood in the store then I would bring it to the attention of the pediatrician.
As long as the child is otherwise acting and feeling well I don't think this is something of major concern but should be watched closely.
Thank you again for sending the question.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga
