Is Platelet Count Of 530 A Cause For Concern?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: In Feb, I was diagnosed with Fifth's disease, and my platelet count was 130. At the end of March, I caught what I thought was a cold, but this week was diagnosed with mono, and a platelet count of 530. Also found out I am vitamin D deficient. Doctor says swing in my counts is because I have been battling viruses. I am now on 50,000 iu of Vitamin D and will be retested in 8 weeks. I am concerned.,
Brief Answer:
There is no place for concern.
Detailed Answer:
Hello! I have been through your question.
Related your concern you should know that usually viral diseases like fifth's disease and mononucleosis could cause thrombocytopenia — low count of platelets.
So, even in your case you have had a mild thrombocytopenia due to the fifth's diseases and/ or from mononucleosis and there was a swing in your counts after your recovery.
Furthermore there is no place for concern.
I hope my answer helps you.
I wish you a quick recovery.
Regards.
