Is Platelet Transfusion Advisable When With A Platelet Count Of 83000?

My Mother condition is stable now. My father also has typhoid with Platelet count 83K. The report is attached. We will see the doctor at 4pm today to start medication immediately. His diet is nearly nutritious.
He doesn't have fever, just weakness and pain in the legs.
With 83K Platelet count, Do you recommend Platelet addition in Hospital. If yes, what type pf Platelet addition would that be. Blood Bank has asked me to confirm, and there are two types.
He can be observed for bleeding withholding platelet transfusion for some
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Hope you are well.
Having gone through your father`s reports I am of the opinion that his widal test is borderline positive. He is not running fever. So diagnosis of typhoid is still not confirmed. Has he been given anti typhoid antibiotics? You may consult your local physician for the correct dosage and duration as you did in case of your mother.
Coming to his platelet count-I will say that it is not alarmingly low. Does he have any bleeding from gums, nose or small red spots(called petechiea) on the body which come in crops? In my opinion platelet transfusion is not warranted at the moment. However he should be under close observation for any evidence of bleeding from any where. He can even be put in the hospital for observation. You can get his platelet count repeated and as I had mentioned earlier the platelet count rises as rapidly as it falls.
Coming to the type of platelet transfusion, I am not sure what does the blood bank person mean. Does he mean pooled platelet transfusion or apheresis platelets. In that case apheresis will be better because risk of transfusion related infections is low.
Take care.
