Is Prednisolone Safe To Take For Polymyalgia Rheumatica?

Question: have been asked to take prednison because i have muscle pain in parts of my body rthat wont go away, dr calls it polymyalgia and rheumatica. Shall I take it? am 84 with various other medecines,..

In polymyalgia rheumatic a, treatment of choice is steroid like prednisolone.
You need to see a rheumatologist to confirm it. In this disease ESR is very high.
If the diagnosis is confirm, then prednisolone is the treatment of choice

what is ESR and what causes my inflamation for this disease, which only started a month ago. Can this be caused by tick bite (lyme disease) YYYY@YYYY

esr is a marker of inflammation, polymyalgia rheumatica can cause inflammation in body and it is refelects by high ESR
I donot think it is related to lyme diseases
