Question: Had medical abortion on 21june night recovered well in one week....had unprotected sex on 9th july night 11pm and 10 july morning 8 am and took plan b on 10 am on 10july.could I be pregnant again

Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

If you had attained normal menstruation after the abortion, you should be ovulating normally. It is highly unlikely for ovulation to occur so soon after the abortion. Ovulation usually returns at least 2-3 weeks later.

Since you have taken emergency contraception within the stipulated time, you are well protected. You may see a withdrawal bleed for a couple of days now and you may expect your next normal period, if at all, to get delayed by a week or two.

Please use regular contraception and restrict the use of emergency pills to once or twice a year as repeated use can lead to serious hormonal imbalances with future infertility.

Please see a specialist if you do not see your next period even after three weeks after the intercourse, for further management.
