default
Posted on Mon, 27 Mar 2017
Question: Hi Doctor,

Me and my girlfriend had dry sex with clothes on December 16th 2016. There is no ejacuation amd penetration. She got her previous period on dec 4th. Then she got her periods on Jan2nd, feb3rd and march 2nd. Before her periods, she observes some brown colour spotting. Can still there be any chance of pregnancy as i read some where pregnancy can be undetected for 3 months. We have done urine pregnancy tests 5 times latest on feb 16th.
Can still pregnancy chance exist as her tummy looks little large(not much noticeable).
Why brown colour spotting occurs?

Please help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your question.

I do understand your pain and discomfort.

As per your history, you have already done urine pregnancy tests and test result is negative but you are suspecting that there is some chance of pregnancy so to confirm it do an ultrasound first. In some cases of normal as well as ectopic pregnancies, it sometimes happens so confirm it by transvaginal ultrasound exam only.

Secondly your question was regarding brown colour spotting and it can be due to many pathological reasons like infections & PID.

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Vaginal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your follow up question.

As per your history if you had no contact with her on that day and also no past sexual contacts so there is no chance of pregnancy at all. So do a physical exam by your local doctors and for brown vaginal spotting if vaginitis is suspected they will treat it by giving antibiotics.

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks
