Is Pregnancy Possible By Having Unprotected Sex Just Before Periods?

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Oct 2015
Question: I'm 36, not as in shape as I'd like to be, and I smoke. I had unprotected sex multiple times about a week before my period was due. My period came early and it seems normal. But my breasts are very very itchy.
Is there still a chance I could be pregnant or would this period flush away any pregnancies?

Brief Answer:
low risk for pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.

You had unprotected intercourse 1 week ago and your cycle started early. With your cycle there is sloughing of the uterine lining and there are no eggs available for fertilization therefore there is a very low risk for pregnancy.

I can reassure you that you are not pregnant

I hope I answered you question. Please contact us again if you have any further questions

Brief Answer:
Trying to get pregnant?

Detailed Answer:
If you are trying to get pregnant then you need to start having sex 10 to 14 days after your cycle. This will be the time that you are ovulating and the best chance for pregnancy

I hope this is what you were really asking.

My period came early and only lasted 3 days.
This has never happened before.
No possibility of being pregnant?

Brief Answer:
Not likely

Detailed Answer:
The chances of being pregnant after having your period no matter if it came early or was shorter than normal is unlikely. With your cycle the lining of the uterus is completely removed and the embryo has no chance to implant to create a viable pregnancy.

I am sorry that this is not what you want to hear.
