Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking I Pill After Sexual Intercourse?

Pregnancy less likely but please see gynecologist
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
If you had sex last month then taking i-pill now will not help. i-pill should be taken not later than 72 hours after probable unprotected sex to avoid an unwanted pregnancy. i-pill contains levonorgestrel 1.5 mg, a progestogen which helps prevent the implantation of the egg in the uterus and avoids the beginning of pregnancy.
If you had period earlier twice in 20 days then pregnancy is less likely. However pregnancy cannot be excluded based on bleeding pattern in every woman and it can also be post implantation bleed in early pregnancy. You can do home pregnancy test and check yourself, however, you should consult a gynecologist to know the cause of such occurrences. This can also be due to hormonal imbalances, stress or due to medical function like abnormal thyroid function.
If necessary a ultrasound scan of your pelvis might be done to know the condition better.
I have tried to give a very brief answer to your query. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Taking i-pill can cause early unexpected bleeding
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
Taking can change the length of your monthly menstrual cycle, making your next period come as much as a week earlier or a week later than usual for two cycles. Some women also find that the hormones in the pills can cause unexpected bleeding, but this is not a common or serious side effect. If your next period is late, you might consider getting a pregnancy test.
This is because it contains high dose of hormone and the early bleeding you are experiencing might be due to this reason.
So it is most likely that you do not have a pregnancy. For peace of mind please do home pregnancy test and get double confirmation.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Home pregnancy test can be taken now
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
If you had sex one and a half month back and have not got any regular periods after that then you can do the home pregnancy test now and confirm.
In PCOS, it is possible that you may not get periods or get abnormal periods. This can cause infertility or inability to have a baby. However many women with PCOS can have a baby after treatment.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
