Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Plan B After Sex?
Question: I had unprotected sex this past Friday/Saturday, and we used the withdrawal method. I also took the Plan B pill Saturday evening, about 18 hours later. I'm worried because I'm about half-way through my cycle and am afraid I might have been ovulating during this time. Can you please provide some insight as to what my chances of pregnancy are?
Brief Answer:
no chance of pregnancy
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX welcome to health care magic.
The chances of pregnancy are almost nil as you used the withdrawal method and also that you took emergency pill too.
Everything will be fine, only minor problem can be just mild irregularity in periods which occurs in few patients after pill intake.
Just relax and wait for periods and then switch to some regular contraception.
Wish you the best of health.
Take care.

Thank you for your answer. I was worried because I read that the way Plan B works is by preventing/delaying ovulation, and I thought there might have been the chance that I ovulated on Thursday or Friday, prior to having sex, and then Plan B wouldn't work. What are your thoughts on that?
Brief Answer:
multiple modes of action
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
Yes, dear you are right emergency pill delays or disrupts ovulation completely at times.
Also it thickens cervical mucus so prevents sperm ascent and makes endometrium lining of uterus unresponsive to implantation of embryo if forms.
So crux is negligible chance of pregnancy.
I hope, I have answered your query if you have any questions I will be happy to help.
