Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Oral Contraceptive Pill?

Question: Hi
I had taken ipill within 24 hrs of intercourse. that was on 23rd of April. And i had light bleeding started on May 1. and it continues till today. So since i bled after taking pill, does that clearly mean that pregnancy can be ruled out? Or, I have to still wait ..Basically, I want to know if we bleed after taking pill, for almost 4 days ow, can that be considered as periods and that i am not pregnant?

Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
Bleeding after i-pill is only a side effects of i-pill due to hormonal changes.
It contains high doses of hormone in it.
Bleeding does not mean that you can not be pregnant.
But the chances of pregnancy is not there in your case,so wait and watch for your menses.
Hope found useful, feel free to ask more information.
Good luck.

My last period was 13th April. When can I expect my next? Pls give a rough date. Also, when u say most likely not, what are the chances of getting pregnant? ANd, y do u say so?
Brief Answer:
Most likely on 13 th may or 7 days late.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
After taking I -pill period may get delayed by 7-14 days.
It may come early or delayed also.
So in your case if you are having 30 days cycle your period may get delayed by 7 days and occurs upto 20 th may,so just wait and watch for your menses.
Usually i-pill in your case prevent pregnancy almost
98%.
I said so because 2% chances of pregnancy are there.
Hope now it is clear.
Good luck.

So, when can i take a urine test at home to check pregnancy to confirm myself. and why is the 2% chance still there? Is there any method by which I can confirm now?
Brief Answer:
After 7 days of your missed period date.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If your expected period date is 13th get your urine pregnancy test on 20th if you missed your period date.
Nothing is 100% on documentation but in your case there is almost no chance of pregnancy.
So do not take so much stress.
Good luck.
