Is Pregnancy Possible For A Patient Suffering From Ovarian Cyst?

default
Posted on Wed, 27 Apr 2016
Question: I am 40 and would like start trying for a baby. I have had hormone bloods that are normal an ultrasound scan that looks normal. Told to relax and have intrcourse 3 times a week. I am taking vitamins and folic acid. My periods have been extremely long this time 59 days instead of the usual 27 to 30 day cycle, which we think is due to stress. I have had my dad very poorly and 2 close relatives have died so we think this is the cause of stopped periods. Can I still conceive if I usually have a regular my cycle? What are your thoughts please?
I have seen my Gynaecologist and GP who say I am panicking and the cyst on my ovary is normal. Many thanks in advance and please answer as soon as you can. Thank you. Also can you please tell me by looking at the scan can I safely say that I ovulate?

Brief Answer:
You are normal. You can relax using these effective methods.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

I have read your query very carefully and I have examined the Ultrasound scan report that you have uploaded.

As you mention, and as the doctors who have examined you state:
1. Your uterus is perfectly healthy (anteverted means rotated frontally, exactly the way it should be for an ideal pregnancy)
2. There may be an ovarian cyst. However, since there is no active disease process caused, we are free to state that such co existing conditions occur statistically in more successful pregnancies than we think.

As for the extended menstrual cycle, we know that it is dependent on hormones. We also are aware of something called as Hypothalamo Pituatory Axis (HPA). Hypothalamus and Pituatory Glands exist deep in the brain. We know that hormonal secretion depends on the state of these structures in the brain.
We further know that the Pituatory gland is the border between the mind and the body. Thus the state of your mind can influence the length of your menstrual cycle.

We know that when a person gets panicked enough, the HPA can shut down the menstrual cycle totally. This is called Cushings ammenorhea.

Since it is rather easy for me to say, "Stop panicking and relax!", I would suggest that you listen to soothing music with your eyes closed.

Certain forms of music such as Baroque & Western Classical and in particular Mozart's sonata's on the piano have been proven as being very conducive for the developing baby. Clinical research has shown that when the mother listened to Sonata for 2 pianos in D Major, K.448 for an hour a day when the "baby" was still a fetus, after birth of the child, IQ tests recorded an average of plus 10 points as compared to mothers who did not do this.

The final diagnosis is that you are perfectly healthy yet are in a mood of anticipation. It is normal to feel frightened, remembering negative life events of the past.

We do not want some doctors to prescribe medication for you that will tranquilize, "cool" you down. We want the best for your baby and yourself.

You are normal and most probably, will have a baby sooner than you think.

I encourage you to ask any questions or doubts.

Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar

Fantastic thanks so my BMI wont stop me conceiving and I do ovulate? Is there any need for tubes test?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Neel Kudchadkar (46 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
You can undergo this test. You will conceive anyway.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

I would say that a "tubes test" to check for the patency of your fallopian tubes would not be necessary given your perfect health. Yet, I would ask you to take this test because it would give you a powerful emotional advantage in feeling better about yourself and all the care that you have taken for your pregnancy.
So, kindly undergo it at your convenience. Ovulation will take place normally, regardless of BMI scores, which I have viewed. Furthermore, all the doctors, including myself, and the ultrasound test that you have undergone, point in one direction - a normal pregnancy and a healthy baby.

I am confident about this.

Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar

Do you think the cyst will resolve now I have started my cycle?

Answered by Dr. Neel Kudchadkar (44 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Yes. Explore ways of raising babies better. Conception onwards.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Yes.
The ovarian cyst that you mention must vanish because:
1. The ovarian cyst that you have is probably functional - this is because of a total lack of side issues as is obvious from your query, your descriptions of your problem and the ultrasound summary that you have scanned and sent.
2. Functional or physiological cysts indeed do vanish on their own accord with the menstrual cycle. This is true.

I hope I have directly answered your question.

Now... let's get to issues as regards your feelings and worries about the cyst because by doing this we are looking far ahead into a vision of healthy (physically and emotionally) you. Let's see the big picture.

I feel that you have every right to feel bothered about the ovarian cyst. You can also take action against it that either surgically (laparoscopic removal) or medically (drug regimens) cause it to vanish.

However, since the cyst, or for that matter any cysts growing on other parts of the body, do not warrant expensive medical treatment.

Removing your ovarian cyst that is currently doing no harm to either your well being or your pregnancy is like inflicting unprovoked good on yourself and making the endurance of the needless treatment of a factitious disease more grevious and horrible than endurance of the same. (Vide: Mark Twain, XXXXXXX Davidson, Mac XXXXXXX Love, anthropologists, humanists and medical philosophers abstracted into a word bite for you)

You are obviously an intelligent and self educated person. However, the pulse of intelligence is a power function of curiosity. Do remember, curiosity killed the cat. However, the mouse is still alive and well in your hands. Kindly point and click in the right direction.

Do you not think that getting curious about raising perfect babies right from the womb is a better topic to get fascinated by rather than operations and medical procedures that could harm you? This is a really gigantic topic.

I had tried to direct your curiosity, intelligence, and need for symmetric situations (perfectionism not amounting to OC, nor personality clusters: References: Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th edition of the XXXXXXX Medical Association) by getting you interested in listening to certain classical music sonatas that have OBGYN benefits. (Yale Medical College, XXXXXXX University: They have researched music and binuaral sound patterns on expecting mothers the best)

Your qualities are to be encouraged. Kindly read Dr. XXXXXXX Spock's books on this.

Obviously, I would be open minded and would encourage you to ask me questions, since you have much to say.

Sincerely yours,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar

Last question I can and will get pregnant naturally. No need for anymore investigations, surgical interventions or clomid treatment
doctor
Answered by Dr. Neel Kudchadkar (4 days later)
Brief Answer:
Yes, You'll get pregnant! Please read carefully.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Yes. You will get pregnant naturally. No more interventions surgical or pharmacological are necessary. This is the final opinion of your local doctors and myself.

1. I have carefully examined the report that you have sent, and have understood your health issues as you have described them. I have mentioned that your reproductive system, including your fallopian tubes (one of your concerns) have been deemed fit for a natural healthy pregnancy.

2. Furthermore, you have been concerned about your BMI. I have shown you that this shall not affect conception in any way.

3. You have been concerned about the length of your menstrual cycle. In the past, I have shown you and demonstrated to you the relationship between your menstrual cycle and conception. We have both agreed upon this point too, that indeed with the duration of your menstrual cycle, that is healthy as deemed by your local doctors and myself, that you can conceive.

4. You have been concerned about your ovarian cyst. Here again, we have examined this and have concluded that your cyst is a functional and physiological one, and does not need any surgical intervention.

5. Furthermore we have examined the possibility of "clomid" treatment in past answers and we concluded that this was not necessary, though you were given the freedom to explore it, by both your local doctors and me.

I'm sorry. I wish you all the best.
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
