Is Pregnancy Possible In Menopause?
Question: Hi, my name is XXXX and I am 55 yrs old. I have not had a period for about 7 yrs. I had a massive tumor removed that surrounded my spine 6 yrs ago. The Dr said this could have stopped my periods and they might start back. Thankfully this has not been the case. My husband passed away 2 yrs ago and I have just recently become sexually active with a man I am seeing. He thinks we don't have to be concerned with me becoming pregnant. Needless to say at my age that would not be a good thing. What do you think? Thanks for your advice. XXXX
Brief Answer:
NO CHANCE OF PREGNANCY IN MENOPAUSAL STAGE.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
You are in MENOPAUSAL stage as you don't get your period for last 7 years. In this age group, ovaries are mostly small, shrunken or atrophied and unable to ovulate.
In absence of period, there are NO chance of ovulation and you can't be pregnant from unprotected sex. So, you wouldn't be worried about that.
Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.
Wish your good health and take care yourself.
