Is Pregnancy Possible Post A Tubal Ligation?
Question: is it possible I'm pregnant this soon after tubal ligation or late period? I had my tubal XXXXXXX 27th August 21st had periodic then September 23rd had period. Now im currently.8 days late ,extremely sore breast cramping off and on on the left side only
Brief Answer:
not likely but possible
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Tubal ligation is a pretty safe form of birth control but occasionally they do fail. Make sure you take a pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests are most reliable 3 weeks after sex or 1 week after a missed period in a first morning urine.
However, many things can cause a delayed period. Stress and hormonal shifts commonly cause delayed periods.
If you are 8 days late and your pregnancy test is negative then that is pretty clear that you are not pregnant.
If this persists and your periods remain irregular, see your gynecologist.
I wish you the best,

I have a doctor's appointment this Thursday,I will like to know if it doesn't start by then what exactly will my doctor do?Will he make me take a another urine pregnancy test, blood test and ultrasound just to be sure? I have read some cases where urine test don't pick up but blood test do.
Brief Answer:
could do all of those
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up,
The current urine tests are pretty good but the doctor may want to repeat a urine test and get a serum test.
I doubt that they would order an ultrasound until they got the blood test back but they might. That would be up to their opinion.
