Is Pregnancy Possible Through Intercourse On The 8th Day Of Menstrual Cycle?
Question: Good Day,
I have a concern. I had unprotected sex yesterday. My periods date was on XXXXXXX 15th and my cycle falls correctly every month (28-30 days). With the unprotected sex which I had yesterday, will I get pregnant? If yes, can I take Marvelon tablets as it is hard to get any other contraceptive pills here in UAE. Please advise as this is of a big concern to me.

Thanks for the query to hcm,
As per your LMP, yoU HAD UNPROTECTED SEX ON YOUR DAY 8 which should keep you in the safe period ideally considering ovulation should occur in your case by day 12-14.
So ideally emergency contraception is not required but if you intend to be doubly sure then you may take 4 tabs of marvel now and then 2 after 12 hrs and then you may have a spotting after 5-7 days. This method is still not 100 per cent sure to protect from pregnancy as this is a oestrogen progestogen pill , so i would advise you to get a serum beta hcg test after 7 days from today to conclusively rule out pregnancy.
