Brief Answer:
Withdrawal technique is unsafe method of birth control

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

It seems you are not aware of preejaculation secretions (precum). Just before ejaculation, these secretions are thrown out by penis. The expulsion of precum is without any awareness to the man; they go unknowingly.

Precum does contain some sperms in it which are capable of and known to fertilize the woman's egg if the intercourse was done in fertile period.

You have withdrawn your penis just before the ejaculation. Hence, there are good many chances that you have unknowingly deposited your precum in her vagina.

In fact after both the incidences, she should have taken emergency contraceptive pills within 72 hours to avoid pregnancy. If she missed this, she had another option of getting intrauterine device inserted within 5 days of unprotected sex. I feel she has missed her both the opportunities since now it is more than a week after the unprotected sex.

Now the question is whether you had any of these intercourses in the fertile period. I shall explain you that.

Egg is released (ovulation) 14 days prior to the next expected menses. Egg has life of 24 hours and the sperms are active up to 72 hours. Hence a period of about week to 10 days around the day of egg release is considered as fertile period. Any unprotected intercourse during this period is more likely to cause conception and pregnancy.

If you can inform me her menstrual history : When she had her last menstruation, what is her periodicity of menstruation, she bleeds for how many days and how much; I shall be better equipped to inform you about the future plan to avoid the pregnancy.

At this stage, I can advice you to wait expectantly for her menses. If she does not get her menses, please do not panic. Wait for 8-10 days more. Then perform pregnancy test on the overnight first morning urine sample. These tests done earlier may give false negative results. Alternatively, you may get her Beta hCG test done which gives reliable results even few days before missed period.

If she is pregnant, she can terminate the pregnancy safely by medicines up to 9 weeks of pregnancy.

I feel this much information should give you sufficient guidance. If you want any more information, I am always available for you, XXXX. Meanwhile I would appreciate if you update me with the required information I have asked for.

If you are satisfied with this information and advice, you may post a good review with 5 star rating for me.

Brief Answer:
High chances of pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

I appreciate your prompt reply giving me the required information. However, you forgot to mention the dates of your intercourses. Please inform me those dates also.

From the dates you have furnished, her date of egg release would be 20th of January. Thus the fertile period would be from 15th to 25th of January. Now you can find out whether your intercourses were during this period. Else, inform me the dates of your intercourses for me to assess it. If it is 19th of January, it is very much in the fertile period and she is running a great risk of pregnancy.

Dear XXXX, deposition of semen or precum even at the opening of vagina is sufficient to cause the pregnancy. Though your penis did not go as deep to touch the cervix, even the entry of the head of penis(glans) is more than sufficient. So please remove that idea from your mind. Even deposition of precum at vaginal orifice can cause pregnancy. The sperms are very active and they swim actively towards the egg.

I have explicitly explained you in my previous communication about the different tests for detection of pregnancy and when and how should they be performed. Please refer back to them again. If there is any confusion, please feel free to ask me.

Yes, if at all she is pregnant, she can get the pregnancy terminated legally. You are from XXXXXXX which is in XXXXXXX In XXXXXXX abortion is legal up to 20 weeks of gestation. However, I would not advise you to wait that long. There are medicines which can safely and effectively terminate pregnancy up to 9 weeks of gestations. Mifepristone and Misoprostol are used for terminating such pregnancy. However, these are prescription medicines and have to be procured only with an Obstetrician's advice and taken under supervision. It is advisable to have a follow up visit with an Obstetrician 7 days after the consumption of medicines.

By and large these medicines are very effective; however if at all they fail to terminate the pregnancy, the decision of termination of pregnancy should not be reverted to continuation of pregnancy as they are known to cause developmental abnormalities in baby. Hence, if they fail, the termination should be effected by surgical evacuation of the uterus by MVA kit or any other procedure of the choice of the Obstetrician.

Now let your first step should be to confirm the status of pregnancy. All other steps would follow accordingly. For advising on it, I am available to you anytime.

For any more information, please feel free to ask me on this forum.

Brief Answer:
If you are in hurry, go for Beta hCG test

Detailed Answer:
Deat XXXX,

She had her menses on 3rd January. Hence, urine pregnancy done before 12 February may give you false negative reports. If you are so keen on having the reliable results today or tomorrow only, you may go for Beta hCG test. This test is very sensitive, highly specific; however costlier.

I have mentioned the medicines that are used for termination of pregnancy up to 9 weeks in my previous conversation. Please refer to it. I feel you are getting rather panicky. Please calm down. You have 5 weeks more for termination of pregnancy, if at all she is pregnant. However, it is better to terminate as early as possible.

I appreciate your faith in me. I would not mind giving my contact number to you; however, this is an online forum and the best way is to contact me through Healthcare Magic. I will readily answer all your queries here.

For any further guidance, you may ask any more queries.
