Is Pregnancy Possible While On Harmoni-F?
I am married for 1 year. After 7 months of TTC, I consulted a ob-gyn. My periods have always been regular and I had no problems before. The doctor took US scan, transvaginal scan & blood test and everything was normal. My DH's semen was tested and reports were normal. But my BMI is around 26.5 66 kg weight and 5'2" height, so I was advised to reduce weight. I was prescribed with "Harmoni F" contraceptive pills for the first month. Then for the next two cycles she prescribed XXXXXXX another contraceptive. The doctor kept insisting on weight loss as she was planning for ovulation stimulation by the end of third month. I was unable to reduce weight even though I worked out and ate moderately. The pills totally messed my periods and I barely had any flow and I believe these pills are the reason I was unable to reduce weight even after 20 mins of jogging every day. Then on the 4th cycle she checked my blood and refused to stimulate stating that my Hormone levels E2 & P4 are high and also I have not reduced any weight and prescribed pills, OVRAL G for 40 days continuously (2 cycles together). In the meantime I got my HSG and the reports were normal too. The 40 days are almost over and I am unable to reduce weight and starting to lose faith in my doctor. I donno why she is presc ribing birth control even though all my reports are normal. I wonder if I should consult some other obgyn as I have already wasted 5 cycles on pills though I badly want to conceive. Please advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The pills that you are taking are all contraceptive pills and you are not likely to conceive while taking the pills. If you have normal regular periods and all the reports are normal then it is best to stop taking the pills, wait for a month to have normal periods and consult another gynecologist who can understand your problem well and prescribe you ovulation induction pills according to your cycle.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thanks for your prompt response.
My BMI is around 26.5 66 kg weight and 5'2" height, will this be a problem in conceiving?
Also as my doctor told, if my my Hormone levels E2 & P4 are high, and if I am to take treatment for that, will the prescription be birth control pills? Or are there tablets that help you regulate the hormone levels which are not contraceptives?
As I have been taking contraceptives for 5 long months, will it affect my baby if I conceive the very next month or would you advise me not to get pregnant immediately?
Please advise...

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Excessive body weight causes a delay in ovulation. You can get ovulation study done to know if ovulation is taking place. Losing excessive weight will help.
The oral pills help to regulate the hormonal levels generally and not specifically these hormones.
Immediately after stopping the pills, the chances of ovulation are less. It will not affect the baby but the chances of conception are low.
Hope my answer is helpful.
