Question: Maam/ sir, my wife is 24 yrs old, i m 30 yrs and we are married for 01 year now. Presently she is pregnant for last three months. I have following queries regarding her pregnancy:-
1. She has a history of psoriasis for last 5 years. She taken herbal medicine for the same and is not showing symptoms of psoriasis for last 5 months. She is fine now. My query is whether the baby will get affected bcaz of this medical condition of my wife. What are the chances of our baby inheriting the disease. I have no such medical condition.
2. Whether my wife can have pomegranate as fruit or as juice, bcqz she is scared that it might induce menstruation or affect baby growth. I would be grateful if u cud suggest some foods that shud be avoided in this stage.
3. What are the essential tablets/ supplements/ medicines that she shud take during various stages of pregnqncy?
Thank you. Regards.

Brief Answer:
Precautions advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Congratulations for the new phase of life.
Psoriasis is usually not an inherited disease but it can run in families, I personally haven't seen any case like that so far.
So all in all chances of child having the disease are minimal.
Pomegranate is safe and rather recommended in pregnancy so she can take it as much as she likes, while fruit is better than fruit juice.
She needs to take folic acid daily as yet and start iron and calcium tablets in around two weeks.
Ask her to have good protein rich diet daily and a lot of water and milk.
Almonds and walnuts are very good for her.
All the best.
