Is Rabies Vaccination Required After Being Scratched By A Dog?
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Sometimes a secondary bacterial infection occurs at the bite site resulting in pus formation and itching. Ideally such situation is treated by a course of oral antibiotics.
In case wound and lesions have healed and there is no fever or local pain, then there is no need for any antibiotic course now, however it would be better on your part to get the patient examined by a doctor, who would be in a better position to decide the need of any further medication.
Appropriate anti rabies vaccination schedule should also be followed as advised by the doctor.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me or any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
