Is Retrograde Ejaculation A Side Effect Of Sandoz Tamsulosin?
Question: I am now taking Sandoz tamsulosin 4mg once a day for quite some time - while I still can have pleasurable ejacuations I am almost dry of semon -- Is this normal -- I am 76 years old and otherwise healthy.

Based on the fact that you have been taking Tomsulosin for poor urine flow due to enlarged prostate and noticed dry ejaculation .
This is what is called as Retrograde ejaculation .
During normal ejaculation the bladder neck gets closed and the sphincter of urethra is opened up ,This helps in forward entry of semen into urethra wfrom where it is ejaculated outside .
Tomsulosin is an alpha adrenaline receptor blocker and causes smooth muscle relaxation in bladder neck and prostate and there by helps to improve urine flow
In a individual who is taking Tomsuosin it causes relaxation of smooth muscles bladder neck and prostate keeping the bladder neck wide open .This leads to semen entering backwards in to bladder and fails to enter forward in to urethra making it to be a dry ejaculation This is termed as Retrograde Ejaculation .
There is nothing to be worried about as for as climax of sexual satisfaction (Orgasm ) is concerned .One gets orgasm without ejaculation of semen .
