Is Skipped Heart Beat A Symptom Of Atrial Fibrillation?

Question: I was diagnosed with afib about 8 months ago . I'm 44 years old , eat heathy and exercise. My cardiologist told me take flacinade as need like pill in a pocket. I've only had 3 afib episodes but I get the irregular beats that feel like a skipped beat . I had a bad case of skipped beats today so I took 150 mg as he recommended. Should I take metropol as well?

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
Skipped beats do not tell us anything about the basic rhythm disorder which may or may not be AF (atrial fibrillation). We always need to confirm it by ECG. If it is AF with fast rate, metoprolol should be taken too. If it is only premature contraction with adequate sinus rate, metoprolol will help but if it is premature contractions with slow basic sinus rate, metoprolol should not be given. The best way is to get an ECG done and decide accordingly.
You must take all your regular drugs.
Hope this helps.Feel free to discuss further.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
