Is Slower Heart Rate In My Baby While Sleeping Normal?
Question: Hello there
Out of curiosity, just noticed that whilst my daughter is sleeping her heart rate is slow.. I know it slows down when people sleep, but not sure what is normal.
I measured her pulse to be 66bpm whilst sleeping but read that children have faster heart rates than adults.
Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
Yes it is normal
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is true that children have faster heart rate (80-120 for a four and half year kid) during day or while active. However the same child show low heart rate during sleep and anything upto 60 beats per minute is completely normal and there is nothing to worry about it.
I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.

And should I worry if it falls below 60bpm during sleep?
I was listening to her heart and it just sounded slow and a little irregular

Brief Answer:
No but should seek opinion from a paediatrician
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up.
Although I do not think you need to worry for normal variation of pulse rate but if there is extreme slowing you should seek opinion from a child specialist. It is also important to obtain ECG as irregular and low volume pulse could indicate possibility of some abnormality which may be of mild nature.
So you need not to worry but should have a reasonable approach.
I hope this helps you further.
Thanks and regards.
