Is Small Feeding Time In A New Born Normal?
Question: Hi doctor,
My 1.5 month old is taking feeds almost every two hours. But she takes feed hardly for 5-10 mins and then goes to a deep sleep. I am worried whether her stomach gets full in just 5-10 mins feed or not. After the feed mostly she takes blurps but at times misses it too. Please let me know if my baby remains hungry.

Brief Answer:
Do not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for your query.
I understand your concerns . If your baby has gained at least 800 GM weight since birth and passing urine atleast 4 times in 24 hours then there is no need to worry.
Most babies usually take atleast 15 minutes for a feed. This gives them both foremilk (to quench thirst) and hind milk (to satisfy appetite). I would suggest you to flicker her soles or rub behind her ears to wake her and feed for more duration. This will help in better growth and will also keep her more satisfied for a longer interval.
Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care

Thanks doctor. She was 2.4 kg at birth and her current weight is 4 kgs. She definitely passes urine more then 4 times. Her problem is she gets into deep sleep very quickly and it's a challenge for me to wake her up. I try my level best to wake her she would open her eyes for seconds and then again go to sleep.
Hi doctor further to this I also notice that she is very gassy and this troubles her most while sucking. She is peeing once in 4-5 days from last 10 days.

Brief Answer:
Start Bonnisan drops
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have gone through your concerns and would suggest you to start Bonnisan drops for relief. It's useful at 10 drops thrice daily for this age group. Most babies as gassy in this age and the condition gradually improves over a few months.
The weight gain is good and suggests adequate nutrition. It seems that the flow of milk is good which leads to early satiety of your baby. Passing poops is quite variable in all babies. It can vary from several times in a day to once in week. So, your baby is fine.

You may use Medigas
