Is Smoking Weed Bad For Health?
Smoking weed has undesired effects
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.
Smoking weed (cannabis) has never been considered a healthy practice.
Considering its prescription use there has been generally unclear scientific evidence for this use except in patients of chronic pain and multiple sclerosis where its use has been regarded as good scientific evidence for use, however this is not by smoking weed but as a dose regulated oromucosal spray.
Smoking weed as a recreation substance can have the following undesired effects.
1. Altered co-ordination and loss of alertness leading to accidents.
2. Weed is often mixed with tobacco and smoked without a filter and related to a long term risk of cancer. It can also make asthma worse, and cause wheezing in people without asthma.
3. Weed affects many different systems in the body, including the heart.
4. Smoking weed can cause serious mental health symptoms in those taking treatment for psychiatric problems.
5. It can induce psychotic illnesses if you have a family background of mental illness, such as schizophrenia.
6. Smoking weed lowers sperm count and causes infertility.
5. It can cause long term cognitive deficits.
Hence smoking weed is not a good option considering its undesired effects.
Hope your query is answered.
