Is Strep Throat Contagious After Being On Antibiotics For 24 Hours?

Question: I have just been diagnosed with strep throat. I got amoxillin 2 a day. how long should I stay out of work? I work around a lot of people, a restaurant.
Brief Answer:
You are no longer contagious after being on antibiotics 24 hours.
Detailed Answer:
Sorry you are sick. In general, people with strep are no longer contagious after being on antibiotics for 24 hours.
Even though you are not considered contagious after 24 hours on amoxicillin or penicillin, your energy level may not be back up yet, so if you are feeling run down or still have a fever, do rest so that your immune system can do what it needs to do.
I hope you are feeling better soon. Please let me know if you need further information or clarification.
