Is Surgery Advisable For Cystic Lesions In The Right Kidney?

My Neice has been detected with Multi Sepated Cystic Lesion in RIght Kidney upper half, the consulted doctors mentioned to undergo surgery for the removal of the Cyst, do we really requiry a surgery for this or does this can be eliminated by usage of any medicines?
Surgery is not an emergency option. No medical treatment available.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
Well i can understand your anxiety. As an Urologist, i would have liked to see the scan also, for an expert opinion.
Going by the report only, this cyst is nothing to worry about. It's not an emergency operation, to remove the right upper half of the kidney.
However, if the recurrent abdominal pain is severe, that's an indication for removal of the partial removal of upper half of right kidney. If surgery is not done now, then an ultrasound / CT scan of abdomen, should be done after 6 months.
Theese cysts can't be treated with medicines.
Taking pain killer medicines or injections, is ill advised.
Hope your doubt is cleared. Wishing your neice good health.

Thanks for your quick reply, iam enclosing herewith the MRI scan also for your referance. Can you please help us with the following questions..
1. IF we have to do surgery, will that be laparoscopy or it will involve opening up of the body?
2. We were told that the during the removal of the CYst, 3/4th of the Kidney will be removed, will this removed kidney part regenerates on its own?
3. The abdomin pain that my neice complains is caused due to this Cyst?
regards
XXXX
Remnant kidney does not regenerate.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Have gone through all the scans and reports.
Surgery is indicated only if, the abdominal pain is caused by the renal cysts.
This can be determined only by the doctor , who has examined her.
Laporoscopic, partial nephrectomy, is the standard operation for such a condition.
Only the affected part of the kidney will be removed, if needed.
The kidney does not regenerate from the remnant portion.
Hope your doubts are cleared. Wishing her well.
