Is The Ulna Considered A Superficial Or Deep Bone For

Question: Is the Ulna considered a superficial or deep bone for bone biopsy?
Brief Answer:
It will be deep bone for biopsy.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Surgery.
When we describe deep or superficial bone for biopsy depends on depth from where the biopsy is to be taken. With this criteria ulna some parts are superficial and other parts are deep so for all practical purposes this biopsy will be taken as deep biopsy.
Second criteria for calling is a deep bone is the convention that all long bone biopsies are to be considered as deep. Superficial biopsies are only with needle like from sternum or iliac crest.
