Brief Answer:
Consult with your prescribing doctor about treatment schedule.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX! Thank you for asking on HCM! Regarding your concern about lortab medication (Acetaminophen-Hydrocodone) it isn't an extended release formulation. Median half-life of the combined formulation is no longer than 4 hours, and sometimes it is needed to take 4-6 tablets daily (distributed 4 to 6 hours apart each tablet). Although it is an effective combination in treating moderate to severe pain, I would not recommend to use it frequently because of several potential side effects (mainly central nervous system for Hydrocodone, and liver injury for Acetamnophen), etc. You should discuss with your prescribing doctor about the treatment schedule and precise indications for use.
Hope to have been helpful to you. Best regards! Dr. Iliri
