Question: Healthy 32 year old female. Had a blood screening through work and it revealed a platelet count of 392 range was 150-379 and was tested x10E3/uL. Should I be concerned? Of course when you google things you read horrible things, and I'm a little worried. Only medication currently taken is prescribed oral birth control pill

would be considered normal in many labs

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

No, there is no reason to be concerned at 392.

The upper limit for platelet count can vary from lab to lab, in most labs, the upper limit is 400 to 450 and yours would be within range.
An upper limit of 379 is a little lower than the norm but as mentioned can vary from one institution to the next.

Even though it is above the upper limit at your particular lab, it is not at a level that would cause any concern.
High platelets, thromobocytosis, can cause symptoms but normally at values far above this one.
In most the platelet value is at least 600.

At 392, your platelets are not a cause for concern.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
