Is There A Dengue Vaccine Which Can Be Taken Before Traveling Abroad?
Question: i am heading to phuket thailand and worried about dengue fever. is there any vaccines for it? thank you
Brief Answer:
a new vaccine but not widely available
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
There is a new vaccine available, it was approved last year. it is called dengvaxia but for now it is only approved for use in Phillippenes, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia
Costa rica, Paraguay. It is not a widely used vaccine.
It is normally not widely available and is not usually given for travel at the moment unfortunately
Prevention is key. You would need to obtain a long acting effective mosquito repellent. In addition the use of long sleeve shirts and long pants would be helpful as well
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Only a small minority experience dengue hemorrhagic fever where bleeding occurs.
If you where effective mosquito repellent then you would not to worry because then the chance of being bitten would be reduced drastically.
