Is There An Immunology Program That Can Improve The Immune System To Hold Back Colon Cancer?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: My mother is 88 years old and has been diagnosed with colon cancer 6 years ago. Her CEA levels were in the 4 range for all these years until she got the flu in December. Since then her CEA levels have doubled each month in XXXXXXX Feb, March to 24 and then we stopped testing. She is healthy and wants to live a longer life and she has not used chemotherapy and does not want to do chemotherapy. Is there an immunology program you can suggest so her immune system may hold back the cancer?
Brief Answer:
CEA
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking
The fact that your mom has rising CEA means that maybe the disease has progressed. For sure she needs to have other exams to verify that.
Naturally she may get a stronger immune system with some modifications of lifestyle - their ways may help the body, but can’t fight the cancer.
Some of them are
1-Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables.
2-Exercise regularly.
3-Maintain a healthy weight
4-Get adequate sleep.
5-Take steps to avoid infection
6-Try to minimize stress.
Regards

That doesn't really help me. I need to know about ways to deter the cancer. Immunology, radiation?
Brief Answer:
CEA
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,
Yes, a lot of other choices are available...If cancer has progressed then your mother should start second-line therapy.
There are a lot of options how the doctor will decide based on your mother's condition.
Target therapy and immunotherapy can also be used, but only based on genetic tests results.
Chemotherapy can also be used but as I said that’s all depends on your mother's performance status.
Feel free to discuss further.
Regards
