Is There Any Correlation Between Elevated Platelet Count And Low Iron Levels?
The surgery probably caused them
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The high platelet count is probably caused by the surgery. Other potential causes may include acute bleeding and various hematologic disorders. Since it only occurred now (that you've been through labor and a gallbladder operation) the most likely explanation is the surgery. You should follow up with more measurements after a week or so to see how it goes. If the platelet count starts to decline then my assumption would have been confirmed.
Regarding your iron stores, you should receive appropriate supplementation since both pregnancy and bleeding during the labor and the surgery right after that may have resulted in significant iron losses. Don't worry about DVT though. Just make sure you don't stay in bed all day!
I hope you find my comments helpful!
