Is There Any Correlation Between Osteochondromas, Mucosal Ulcers And Supernumerary Teeth?

Question: My son recently had an osteochondroma removed from his left femur just above his knee. We recently went the dentist and found out he has 4 supernumerary teeth. The dentist said there are syndromes that can cause this and it may be related to the bone tumor. He also has a lot of trouble with large blisters or ulcers on his lips and inside his mouth. This has been going on for two years. We had an endoscopy done and there were several ulcers in his esophagus but his stomach and intestines were clear. They biopsied some of the ulcer and could not find anything. Could all of these weird problems be related and what could be causing them?

Brief Answer:
All symptoms are related

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the query.

I have gone through your question in detail. From the history it does seem that all these symptoms may be genetically linked to each other.

Osteochondromas, multiple mucosal ulcers, supernumerary teeth etc are all symptoms of a genetically linked disorder.

There is no syndrome as such but we can consider it as a generalised disease affecting all his body systems to some extent or the other.

From the symptoms, though, this does not appear to be very serious or life-threatening. So you need not worry much.Just keep him healthy and maintain high immunity.

Give him symptomatic treatment when he has any complaints, that's all.

I hope the answer was useful.

Thank you.

Kind regards.
