Is There Any Interaction Between Physiotens And Thyroid Hormones?
Question: Good Morning Dr. XXXXXXX
Will the PHYSIOTENS affect the thyroid, as I have hypothyroidism? I am not able to take SYNTHROID or ELTROXIN as they both affect my back, butte and down my leg like the HBP meds do. What would you suggest for Thyroid that might work that would not cause the pain? I sure appreciate your help with these problems. I may have to order Thyroid meds from another country as SYNTHROID is the main one used here in Canada. Have a great weekend! XXXXXXX XXXXXX

Brief Answer:
No interaction.
Detailed Answer:
Good morning Ms. XXXXXX,
There is no interaction between Physiotens and Thyroid hormones.
If the synthetic Levothyroxine is not suitable, you could try Natural Desiccated Thyroid which is organic. Please start with a small dose like half a tablet and build up to the required dose.
I don't know which brand is available in Canada
Please search the net.
Wish you good health and a great day.
I shall be happy to answer further queries if you have any.

Thanks so much for your response. What is Natural Desiccated Thyroid? Have you heard about "Young Living" Oils and Supplements - hospitals in the United States use the oils? Would THYROMIN - for thyroid, from YOUNG LIVING be what you would call Natural Desiccated Thyroid? You can find info on THYROMIN on the web. Thanks for your help Dr. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Thyromin is Thyroid gland extract plus oils etc
Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms. XXXXXX,
Sorry for the delay in response as I was at a conference.
Natural dessicated thyroid is the preparation made from animal thyroid.Brands include Forest Lab’s Armour, and Nature-throid and Westhroid by RLC Labs. There is a generic version of NDT made by Acella Pharmaceuticals. Canada’s desiccated thyroid made by Erfa is called Thyroid.
Thyromin capsules contain extracts of animal thyroid glad, vitamins, herbs , amino acids, minerals and essential oils which make the preperation more expensive but may not add much benefit to NDT.
Normally doctors don't recommend these but since you are not able to tolerate Levothyroxine, the natural forms may be tried. Hope you would be able to tolerate this and have a healthy life.
Wish you a happy weekend and good health.
