Is There Any Relation Between Elevated MCV And Premature Greying Of Hair?
Question: I suffer from vitiligo in 2 areas. However, I am notcing grey hairs on my scalp where there isnt any vitiligo. I had a blood test any everything seemed find other than the MCV which was out of the range at 100. Does this singal something in connection to grey hairs appearing? I would love to stop them and reverse if it wasnt down to genetics.
Brief Answer:
No association with MCH level, Melitane will help
Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome to HealthcareMagic,
Vitiligo and bunch of gray hair (Poliosis) are associated and both of them has nothing to do with MCV level.
The blood disorder which are associated with these is Blood sugar level and serum TSH level.
Some genetic component is also associated with vitiligo.
Diffuse greying (not in bunch) is canitis that is premature graying of hair.
This can be stopped or reversed in some with application of Melitane gel. It has to be applied once daily.
Take tab Biotin 10 mg + PABA + ca pantothenate once daily, these composition are helpful in stopping graying of hair.
Hope this will help you.

MCV level is a guide for anaemia
Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome again,
Yes, high MCV level is associated with deficiency of Vitamin B12 and/or folic acid deficiency. High level is also seen in alcoholism.
Graying is related with PABA and Vitamin B5 deficiency that is Biotin.
Hope this clears your facts.
Thanks

Thanks. Should I take a strong b-complex with all b in it? I am doing a new test which will look at b12 and folate levels and to see if last 3 months of multivitamin have made mcv lower.
