Brief Answer:
Reduction in effectiveness

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your point. Use of carbamazepine (Carbatrol) and Equils (Apixaban) leads to drug interaction and reduces efficiency of each other. I am not going into details of the enzyme and pharmacology as it is complex.

Overall recommendation is - This combination must be avoided.

Reduction in Apixaban efficiency or exposure is approximately 50% according to European Medicines Agency. However, it will also depend upon dose of carbamazepine.

My advise is to ask your doctor to change your anti epileptic or blood thinner, so that no interaction occurs between two.

Hope you got your answer. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
