Is There Interaction Between Celebrex And Trazodone?
When the two are taken together , care should be taken .
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You are very right that naproxen can be hard to the stomach .This becomes more important when used with trazadone as they both hurt the stomach .
Celebrex is also an NSAIDS ( as is naproxen ) and all NSAIDS can be heavy on the stomach though it is least likely among all with celebrex, however it still can cause harm to the stomach .This becomes more important when you use it with trazadone that also hurt the stomach .so when the two are used at the same time , there is an increased risk of peptic ulcers or GI bleed ( though it's not very common ) So care should be taken when both are used .The recommendations is that the celebrex should not be used for long time and when taken with trazadone( or any SSRI ) it is advised to take a drug for stomach protection with it , mostly a PPI like lnsoprzole.
And it should not be used in combination in any person who has a history of upper GI bleed in the past.
As a general rule NSAiDS ( like naproxen or celbrx) should not be used for long time in osteoarthritis ( which is a long lasting disease ) even if one is not using trazadone .If needed for long time for pain relief opiods are better option .
Hopes I have answered your query .I WOULD be happy to answer any further question about this. Please don't hesitate to ask anything in this regards.
Kind Regards
DR Rahman
