Thank you! I am still waiting for the Mebendazole to kick in-- just finished my final dose tonight. Is it normal to take a few more days to get the Ascaris out? How do you know if you have a systemic versus intestinal infection?
Also, having tight, stabbing sensations throughout the ribs, where I typically have varying degrees of constant pain. Is this an indication that the medicine is working?

Brief Answer:
Specific information
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Mebendazole will work.
You have to take Praziquental thereafter.
Ascaris flushing will take time.
There's no specific way to find out if it's systemic or intestiall. However, the medicines will work just the same.
The tight sensation is a part of infection. It will clear slowly as the infection clears.
I hope have responded as per your questions.
Best of luck.

Do you recommend a second round after two weeks to get the hatched eggs missed the first round?
Brief Answer:
No
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I won't recommend a second course just yet.
However , I would suggest that you test with a stool routine test. Of course, if the signs of infection persist on the stool test then a second course is warranted.
Hope you are on antacids with antibiotics.
Best of luck. Dr Mittal

It's been 19 days since taking Vermox. In the past 10 days I have had an increasing pain in the upper left abdomen under the ribs (stomach area). It is now an intense stabbing sensation. Is it possible that a worm is stuck? I am worried that I may not have achieved full absorption of the Vermox because I take Linzess for constipation. Is that possible?
Brief Answer:
Meet a gastroenterology specialist
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I think you should meet a gastroenterology specialist.
There is a possibility that the infection may have affected the gall bladder.
I can't examine you.
Best to meet a gastroenterology specialist for a endoscopy.
Meanwhile, test an ultrasound of the abdomen.
Best of luck.
