Is There Interaction Between Oxycodone And Propranolol?
Question: Hello, Is it safe or are there drug interactions with 5mg of oxycodone with 20mg of propranalol?
Brief Answer:
they may interact to cause low blood pressure
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
propranolol lowers the blood pressure and heart rate. Oxycodone may potentiate the effect on blood pressure. Using both is not prohibited but caution is required to avoid untoward effects like postural hypotension.Dose escalation should be gradual. The doses you've mentioned are not very high, so the interaction is expected to be less important. There's no way to predict it though, for any particular individual.
Since both types of drugs are commonly used, I can add that most patients do not experience serious problems but caution is required when initiating the combination.
Kind Regards!
