Is There Interaction Between Vytorin, Metformin, Invokana, Bydureon And Lantus?
you could take less
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I understand that your HbA1c was within the target range (7% or less) but you do take a lot of drugs. When taking a basal and a bolus insulin (lantus and humalog respectively) you should be able to achieve an accurate glucose control, provided that you're self-disciplined enough to avoid overeating or eating the wrong type of food.
One could agree to add metformin to a type 2 diabetic in order to reduce insulin resistance (and thus insulin requirements) and perhaps also bydureon when a patient is fat and can't control eating. Bydureon helps by reducing the patient's appetite and by promoting weight loss.
I can't see the need for invokana though.
In patients like you, I usually give a go to metformin, a basal insulin and perhaps bolus insulin. If I prescribe bolus insulins I usually recommend 2-3 doses per day.
Finally, please take into account that in diabetes whatever works is right! I guess that's why your doctor recommended continuing your current regimen. But I can understand your primary care physician's worries.
I hope you find my comments helpful!
