Brief Answer:

Thin watery discharge is worrisome.

Detailed Answer:

Hello!

At 29 weeks mild amount of thick whitish discharge is normal. If it is associated with a thin watery discharge that needs a pad then it is worrisome and needs an immediate attention.

If there is any pain in the lower abdomen or the baby movements are reduced than earlier then also you need to consult your gynecologist.

In case the discharge is mild and thick then you can rest and wait to see if it gradually decreases on its own. Steroids are suggested for lung maturity of the baby and are started if there is a persistent pain or watery discharge.

These are safe for use as it will benefit the baby. Do go with your doctor's advice.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:

The treatment is correct and safe.

Detailed Answer:

Hello!

The antibiotics will help in reducing the discharge. Betamethasone is given so that in case the discharge increases or is watery then it will help in lung maturity of the baby.

Admission and bed rest will also help in reducing any pain and discharge. The treatment suggested by your doctor is correct. Do follow the advice.

Hope my answer is helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Sorry for delay in attaching the report. Please find the attached report
As per Report following a
Liquor is increased AFI 32 cm
Internal OS is opened MS 2.3 cms with membrane bulging
Residual cervix MS 8mm

y Wife is 29 Weeks 3-4 days with Twins and after seeing the report doctor is suggesting to go to Cervical Stitches under Anestia.
Could you please let me know is it ideal to put Cervical Stictes at 29 weeks and any rist associated with it.
If we dont opt Cervicl Stitces what would be the chances of pre mature Labour
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rakhi Tayal (4 hours later)
Brief Answer:

Going for stitches is best.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again!

I have seen the reports. Your wife's internal os is open and membranes are bulging. Residual cervix length is short and stitches are recommended at this stage otherwise the membranes will bulge further and preterm labor can be precipitated.

It is best to go for cervical stitches as suggested by your doctor otherwise the chances of preterm labor in next two weeks is more than 50%.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks for your advise.Whether Stitches should be removed prior to delivery that is 32/33rd week or needs to be removed during delivery.
Our only concern for not opting Stitches was that AFI is 32 cm if there is any Water leakage then risk of infection would be more.
So wanted to confirm if you put stitches whether it would avoid water leakage or has no relation between putting Stitch and water leakage.
Also Wanted to confirm whether Chances of Rupturing of membrane would be more?
Usually whether Stitches would be put in 29 weeks?

Thanks in advance for your inputs

Brief Answer:

Details below.

Detailed Answer:

Hello!

The stitches are removed prior to delivery after 36 weeks when the baby is fully mature. In case the intense pains start prior to that then also the stitches may need to be removed.

The water leakage can happen now also without the stitches. The chances of leakage are more now. In that case it will be difficult for the premature babies to survive. Stitches will help in preventing the water leakage.

Chances of ruptured membranes will also decrease after putting the stitches. The stitches are put whenever there are chances of preterm labor. It can be anytime after 22 weeks.

Thanks For your inputs.
As Per your suggestion we have put Cervical stitches.
So wanted to know whether complete bed rest is required after switches or can walk go to office.
Could you please let us know any precautions(Tablets or supplements) that we need to take now after putting Switches to prevent Water leakage ?
Could you please let us know. What are the symptoms of Water leakage so that we can give immediate attention and go to hospital.
Also if Water leakage starts in future is it preferred to remove stitches winch we had put?

Thanks for all your inputs really appreciated.

Brief Answer:

Do have rest to avoid any water leakage.

Detailed Answer:

Hello!

After cervical encirclage stitches it is better to have rest to decrease the stress on the stitches. She can go to office if it is nearby- minimal travelling and there is only desk related work with no exertion like climbing stairs.

She needs absolute rest to prevent any leakage. Any tablets to reduce pain can help in case there is a lower abdomen pain.
In case there is a water leakage she will feel a watery fluid running down on her legs specially on standing.

The stitches are removed only when the baby is mature enough to be delivered. Removing the stitches will cause more water to leak causing further complications.
